Aston Villa centre-back Josh Feeney is expected to join Shrewsbury Town on loan for the new season.
The 19-year-old signed a long-term contract with the club last summer and will link-up with academy teammate Tommi O'Reilly at New Meadow. The duo spent the second half of last season on loan at Spanish third-tier side Real Union.
Feeney played eight games for Real Union last season and started five times, while O'Reilly featured in two matches after picking up an injury shortly after arriving on loan.

Feeney joined Villa from Fleetwood Town in July 2021 and went on to feature regularly for both the under-18s and under-21s ever since. Feeney has played in England youth groups, including under-16s, where he was captain.
He has been named on the bench for the first-team on a few occasions and is part of the squad which is touring the USA this summer and started in the defeat to Columbus Crew.
Shrewsbury are managed by Paul Hurst and will play in League One next season after steering clear of danger last term, finishing 19th in the third-tier.
